Pollo Campero - Greensboro offers an irresistible taste of Latin American chicken cuisine right in the heart of Greensboro, NC. Located at 4629 W Market St, this vibrant chicken restaurant has quickly become a local favorite since its opening in March. It stands out from the typical fried chicken joints by serving up authentic, wonderfully seasoned dishes that evoke the classic flavors of its original roots outside the USA.
The menu is a delightful celebration of both grilled and fried chicken options, each bite bursting with depth, juiciness, and texture. Customers rave about the perfectly crispy fried chicken, which strikes a flawless balance between crunch and tenderness. Equally remarkable is their grilled chicken, praised for its bold, smoky flavors with a subtle citrusy hint that keeps you coming back for more. Signature sides such as fried sweet plantains and yucca fries add a delicious, slightly sweet contrast to the savory mains, providing a satisfying and wholesome dining experience.
Beyond the chicken, Pollo Campero also shines with its flavorful empanadas — creamy yet just a little indulgent — and fresh salads that can be customized with dressings like ranch to complement your meal. Refreshing beverages like Jamaica water and mango drinks are perfect palate cleansers, although the occasional reviewer notes a slightly off flavor in the horchata, making the Jamaica a safe and delicious bet.
The atmosphere here is casual and welcoming, featuring a counter-service setup with exceptionally friendly staff who keep the environment upbeat and efficient. Many customers appreciate the professionalism and quick service, emphasizing how the team’s enthusiasm enhances the overall dining experience. Whether you're grabbing a quick bite or enjoying a relaxed meal, Pollo Campero offers a vibrant, comforting spot to indulge in flavorful, memorable chicken dishes.
Its location is a fun and slightly cheeky spot on West Market Street, nestled right next to a KFC, inviting friendly competition. Despite the crowded chicken scene with options like Popeye’s and Zaxby’s nearby, Pollo Campero carves out its niche by offering unique flavors, fresh handmade food, and Latin-inspired sides that you won’t find elsewhere. Regular patrons like Ivy Baker laud it as possibly the best fried chicken they’ve ever tasted, while others like ShAoLiN aLLeN swear by the grilled chicken’s remarkable flavor. The steady flow of drive-thru customers is a testament to the strong following it’s cultivating.
For anyone craving juicy, flavorful chicken with a twist of Latin American flair and sides that elevate the meal, Pollo Campero - Greensboro promises an authentic, satisfying experience that delights the senses and keeps you coming back for more.

Delicious! Classic nostalgic flavors from the original restaurant outside of the USA! Recently opened in March its saving me long distance trip being local here now the savage part is that it's right next to the KFC lol I got the crispy two piece with Fried Sweet Plantains and the Empanada with a Jamaica water to drink! Delicious!

The establishment is counter-service, with exceptionally friendly staff. The food quality exceeded expectations; the grilled chicken was well-seasoned, and the fried chicken was both crispy and juicy. The mango and Jamaica drinks were excellent. However, the horchata had an off-flavor. This did not detract from the overall positive experience. The salad was fresh, although the ranch dressing could benefit from increased thickness.

The service here was very professional and spot on. There are good and bad about the food in my honest opinion however to each their own. The good. Fried chicken was spot on. Just the right amount of church you look for when it comes to fried chicken. The mac and cheese is thick but in a good way. Empanadas were very creamy in the inside but just a touch greasy. Now the bad. The grilked chicken tasted like it was marinated in Italian dressing and then grilled but burnt, the breast was very dry for me. The yucca fries...if your mouth was watery for the fried chicken the yucca fries will act like a bounty napkin and immediately dry your mouth out. Unless my fries were not freshly made it was an absolute 'NO' for me. The rice...reminded me of uncle Ben vegetable rice in the microwaveable bag. I wasn't so thrilled about the rice. On a happy note and happy ending the chocolate chip cookies were very good and had a lot of chocolate chips in them.

The food her is good and you can make it healthier depending on the sides you choose. My friend and I got the 4 piece meal mixed. The grilled pieces were well seasoned and had a subtle hint of lemon. The fried pieces were crisp and also well seasoned. The Yuka wasn’t my favorite, due to the dryness. As for the coleslaw it was ok, nothing special. I also tried the Empanadas which were hot and flavorful; perfect appetizer. The employees are very respectful and I appreciate that they speak Spanish as well as English.

I'm telling you right now, if you have not ate the chicken here then you haven't ate chicken. Their grilled chicken has the BEST flavor of any chicken I've ever eaten! The friend chicken is great as well, nice bite/crunch and super juicy! I mostly prefer fried chicken over grilled chicken but here, the grilled chicken is so remarkable that I would choose any day of the week, even over grandmas fried chciken! (Don't tell Grandma I said that). The rice is super flavorful and their fries are nice too. You HAVE to try the grilled chicken right now though, stop thinking about it and GO! You will thank me later and will be back for seconds within a week!

With Popeye's, KFC, and Zaxby's all nearby, Pollo Campero entered a rather crowded stretch of West Market. Despite this, it's managed to attract a following if the steady stream of drive-thru traffic is anything to go by. Part of the appeal is the menu: it's not like you can get plantains or yucca fries at any of the other chicken chains nearby. The staff here are also friendly and courteous. Of course, the biggest draw is probably the chicken. They advertise meals/combos, but I was really seeking a snack-sized portion. Fortunately, they were able to hook me up with a six-piece of nuggets. While definitely not the cheapest chain chicken offerings, they were definitely among the best. The nuggets were crispy, and the signature campero sauce - tangy and just a bit spicy - made for a perfect accompaniment. I don't know if the rest of the menu is similarly delicious, but I hope to eventually find out.

This is the first time I have come here since they've recently opened up. My first impression was that this was just a Mexican food joint. I was proven wrong! All the workers were quick on their feet, cleaning tables, taking up empty plates, refilling the drink station, and getting the food out onto the tables. Everything was fresh and piping hot, and the majority of the food was all handmade as well. I ordered the plate of 3 & 2 pieces of chicken that come with one side and a roll. I appreciate that they give you a choice of fried or grilled chicken with no extra upcharge. The sides all look very delicious. I got the skinny fries and plantation bananas. The plantation bananas were not so sweet, but they were perfectly cooked and melted in my mouth. The pieces were slightly too thick, not cut up enough, but that's no big deal. The fries tasted like a better version of McDonald's fries and were not greasy at all, which made them even more tasty. The fried chicken was also not greasy at all and just completely melts in your mouth and explodes with juicy flavor it also has a really nice crunch on the outside. The rolls are nomarl store bought rolls, and they dry out very fast, but they still taste pretty good, especially if you have some butter or jam on the side. The atmosphere was super nice and clean following alongside the bathrooms. I like the simple food joint look to it all on the inside it would be especially nice if they added some small chicken decore around the place. The prices are no different than any other chicken joint. I'd definitely come here over another chicken joint since the prices are the same, and the food here just tastes better! It's made with pure love, and my stomach nomarly is upset after eating food like this, but here, my stomach felt happy and not upset at all. It filled me up perfectly. They give the right amount of portions. I will definitely be coming back here in the future!

Quite possibly the best fried chicken I have ever eaten!! Delicious juicy flavorful and the side items are out of this world the beans and fried plantains are absolutely fantastic! We also love the horscheta and the empanadas. Hubby always gets the spicy sandwich and he indicates it is next level! Great value and we now go often!!
